Tennis at Sundridge Park
Welcome to the Tennis section.
Sundridge Park Lawn Tennis & Squash Rackets Club started just over 100 years ago as a Lawn Tennis Club. Over the years more quality courts have been added and we now have eight grass courts plus 11 all weather courts, including four that are state-of-the-art clay. Eight of the courts are floodlit.
The Club is on the north side of Bromley. We are members of the Kent LTA and enter many teams in both the Kent and North Kent winter and summer leagues. In total there are five Ladies, five Men’s, five Mixed, two veteran and several girls and boys teams. The Club also takes part in the National Club League. Richard Whichello, the Club’s President, has been a member of the Davis Cup team and played for Kent County over a considerable period. For many years Kent has played in the first Division at Eastbourne during County Week. In the run up to County Week several Kent team players practice on the grass courts at Sundridge Park which is very enjoyable to watch.
Sundridge Park is foremost a members’ club attracting people living in Bromley, Chislehurst, Beckenham, Grove Park and most surrounding areas. New members are always welcome, whether to play or just to socialise. Every year both a summer and winter tournament are held. Ad hoc tournaments are also often organised at Bank Holiday weekends. A Main Committee and sub-committees manage Sundridge Park. Committee members are club members and give their time voluntarily to manage the club as best they can, including managing the bar, the social programme, or planning for the future. Sundridge Park is well known for being perhaps the most friendly and welcoming club in the Bromley area.
