RED NOSE DAY
Report on Red Nose Day March 13th 2009
Well, didn't We Help to make a Difference! and Do Something Funny For Money!
It was so great to see the club really buzzing on Friday evening - what a brilliant atmosphere as Juniors, families and adults all came together for Red Nose Day evening which had started off much earlier at the really successful Red Nose Day coffee morning!
Tennis and Squash tournaments were organized, the Juniors doing themselves proud in rising to the occasion and wearing something red or funny - tutus being the essential fashion accessory - the adults joining in the fun with really successful squash doubles and tennis tournies.
Pre-selling of raffle tickets - helped by squash and other club members being fined heavily for excusing themselves from the evening's activities - and generosity on the night both in donated prizes and by gentle persuasion as well as picking numbers in some weird form of lottery, added to the fun and general air of incomprehension but added to the evening's proceeds no end!
Chilli and rice was served to a full clubhouse and the fun continued long into the night with the bar till ringing merrily and taking a lorra lorra money so the Club benefited as well as the worthwhile charity being supported!
As a memento of the evening a T shirt was donated by the squash section, artistically designed by our Junior section and signed by all present...for a small donation....and will be framed and displayed in the Clubhouse as a souvenir of this great evening.
So the Club really came together as a whole and we should all be extremely proud of raising an amazing £858 for Comic Relief! But equally important was the great atmosphere, sense of fun, laughter rebounding from the rafters and everybody having a great time whilst helping make a Difference.
Too many to thank really, but you know who you are - The Red Nose Day Organising Committee, those involved in catering, raising money on the night by fair means and foul, the bar staff, the coaches, those who donated raffle prizes, those who couldn't attend but good naturedly bought raffle tickets - and most importantly all who gave up their Friday night to participate in what will surely become an annual charitable event - Roll on Next Year!
