Canary Wharf

Tournament March 26th 2009
Yes - you guessed... yet another report from Phil

Unbelievable ! Thanks to our association with Peter Nicols we had managed to secure prime- and that is REALLY prime - seats to see the Semi Finals of this great tournament ! Four seats in the middle of Row A backwall ! I mean these were the BEST seats in the house !As Olli said - ‘I feel privileged and a bit embarrassed to be sitting here really !' (but, Olli..you feel the same when playing for the Firsts...or the Seconds.......). Less serious members of our party were in the VIP area, the main attractions being the ability to chat interminably about how much they'd made on the back of toxic debt, the latest hi tech must -have gadget .....or whatever city boys talk about these days - the chance of meeting up with the delectable and adorable Jess - Peter's girlfriend- and nearly of equal attraction I s'pose, the proximity of the bar !

And for us who were concentrating on the Squash ? Awesome......Enthralling......Unbelievable Fitness, Agility and Shots...as well as being Feisty and Contentious ! what more, really could you want?

Slightly surprising but nonetheless deserved finalists emerged - James Willstrop, who we thought was the underdog, came back to beat AmrShabane 3-2 and in a no less absorbing but certainly faster and feistier encounter David Palmer beat Gregory Gaultier - who again we thought was more naturally talented -3-1.

A great great evening that will live in the memory for a really long time !

Make sure you book up next year! Unmissable !

SPARKS privileged few were : Boothy, bambi, Glen, Sean, Olli, JJ, Brian and Andy.....Oh, and....

Phil

News & Events

After all the excitement and expenditure of energy during the day, it was nice to relax and enjoy the not inconsiderable talent of Salvatore De Concilis. We were treated to a fine selection of different musical genres complete with vocals. The event was a sell out, the wine flowed and a few brave souls ventured on to the dance floor.
