Open Day Review
Review of the day's events...
Our Open Day was a great success. Even though it was cold in the morning the grass courts looked good and people were able to play on them all day. We recruited 30 new members for squash and tennis and we have some more possibles in the pipeline.
The tennis coaches for the day were Alex Francis, Laura Thomas and Alex Mole and they did us proud. Everybody said how much they enjoyed their coaching.
Gary Church organised a charity squash match which raised £70 for SPARKS, Robert Finch, aged 9, giving the adults a real run for their money!
Richard Whichello played some exhibition tennis with Rebecca Finch (older sister of Robert), Jade Matthews, James Wilson, Kris Sales and Henry Whyte and it was great to watch such talented juniors.
An excellent BBQ was produced by Steve Spinks which made some money for the club and Susan did a fine job behind the bar with nobody having to wait long for drinks. Nan’s cakes, as usual, were delicious.
The photographs were taken by Rolf Evans of The Gallery Wrap. You can see more photographs on the website: www.thegallerywrap.com and place an order if you would like to.
There will be an evening to welcome new members on Friday 25th May and we hope that you will all come along and meet some of the existing members. The evening is for adults and juniors and a drink and some nibbles will be provided. Weather permitting we’ll look forward to playing tennis as well as some socialising.
