Club Squash Section

Due to an increase in the membership, we now run up to twelve leagues, each containing six players, operating on a two-up/two-down promotion and relegation system. (This ensures that you do not continually play the same people in the leagues. After all, variety is the spice of life!) Run over a five to six week period, playing all your league games shouldn't be a problem. It also provides our more enthusiastic and energetic members ample time to play friendly games.

We run annual knock-out competitionsduring May/June and October/November. These are are also eagerly competed for and entry is free of charge. We present trophies to the winners and runners-up in each of three competitions: the Open; the Handicap; the Veterans; the Doubles and the Plate (for 1st round losers of Open & Handicap).

Sparks has 2 teams entered in the Priory Leagues, which are played on Tuesday evenings, so please come along and support as many matches as possible... either Home or Away - your support is always welcome. Afterwards read the inimitable match reports published on Wednesday/Thursday.

Club Night.
We run a monthly squash club night. Every first Friday of the month, all squash members can come along and play. This is a good way of challenging players you wouldn't normally come across in the leagues. Food from our kitchen or barbeque is often available. And, of course, it's all rounded off with a few drinks!

Doubles.
Many of our current members enjoy playing doubles squash on a friendly basis, and would appreciate new opponents/partners. Though you may, obviously, play doubles whenever you wish, doubles enthusiasts enjoy a Sunday evening 'knock' followed by a social drink with snacks.
We have recently re-introduced a doubles league.

'Friendlies'.
Some members play friendly matches to the exclusion of all others, and nearly all members play some each month. But beware, the friendly competition on court, soon turns to friendly "banter" afterwards over a pint (or several!) in the bar!

Racquetball.
Many members enjoy this sport and we do have racquets and balls behind the bar that you may borrow if you wish to try something new.

All squash members are entitled to play several games of tennis per year. Though restricted to off-peak times, they are, of course, entirely free of charge. We have a choice of grass, astroturf or concrete courts.
