Welcome to the Tennis Section at
Sundridge Park
Sundridge Park Lawn Tennis & Squash Rackets Club (SPLT&SRC) started 98 years ago as a Lawn Tennis Club. The name indicates that primarily it had grass courts. Over the years more courts were added and to date we have 8 grass courts, 4 artificial all weather courts and seven hard courts of which four are floodlit.
The club is a member of the Kent LTA and enters many teams in both the Kent and North Kent winter and summer leagues. In total there are 5 Ladies, 5 Men’s, 5 Mixed, two veteran and several girls and boys teams. The club also takes part in the National Club League. the junior section has become so successful that it is increasingly difficult to admit more juniors to the membership. Richard Whichello, the club’s President and Kent Captain, was selected for the Davis Cup many years ago and currently plays in the Kent County team. For many years Kent has played in the first Division at Eastbourne during County Week. In the run up to County Week several Kent team players practise on the grass courts at Sundridge Park which is very enjoyable to watch.
Sundridge Park is foremost a members’ club and the main source for funds to maintain and improve facilities, and pay staff wages, comes from membership fees. New members are welcome, whether to play or just to socialise. Every year both a summer and winter tournament are held. Ad hoc tournaments are also often organised at Bank Holiday weekends. A committee and sub-committees manage Sundridge Park. Committee members are club members and give their time voluntarily to manage the club as best they can, including managing the bar, the social programme, or planning for the future. Sundridge Park is well known for being a friendly and welcoming club.
Come and join us!
